This Father's Day we had a cook-out with our neighbors/friends. We had way too much food, and fun!

Logan got his two year old check-up and pictures. The pictures were extremely difficult so I am happy that we got one that he was at least looking at the camera!

He weighs 34.5 lbs (97th percentile) and is 36 inches (92nd percentile)

Logan did such a good job, much better than I thought he would. Yes, he is holding two "pop-pops." The hairdresser was so fast and fun. I recommend Snip-its to anyone with a two year old that won't hold still and is afraid of strangers. The haircut was great too. He is too cute!

I can't believe my baby is 2! We had such a fun day at the Zoo in Rhode Island. He loved seeing all of the animals, but seeing the elephants and petting the sheep were his favorite!

Clayton went with his school orchestra to the Great East Festival where they were awarded a Gold Medal!!! Afterwards they went to Canobie Lake Amusement Park in Salem, NH to celebrate. Chris went along as a chaperon and took a couple pictures.

Clayton had his Spring Concert last night. He did such a great job. This is what we will miss most about Hanscom. Their music teacher, Howard Worona (Mr. W.) is amazing!

HOPA Race

Yesterday was the annual Hanscom HOPA race. It's a 3 mile run for all middle school students and their parents. Clayton and Chris did amazing, coming in at 44th and 46th place. (Chris let an 8th grader pass him at the last minute.) Last year Clayton got in the 170s, he does much better when Chris runs with him!

The base had small Easter egg hunts for both Logan and Autumn. It was a great way for Logan to learn how it all works. It took him only a second to figure out how to do it, but then when he realized that the eggs were filled with candy, he ended it short, got in his stroller, and started eating! This was the first time that Clayton was too old to hunt. His response was, "Man, it sucks to get old."

It's hard to believe I know, but yes, Autumn is 8 years old! We had such a great day. Autumn felt much better from having strep throat so we were able to party!
After a fun day at school we went to Chili's and then the IMAX theater where there is a trapeze. Here is Clayton right after the "jump." He told us later that the girl just pushed him...

We then went came home and had cake and opened presents.

Santa came! Autumn woke us up at 3:30 a.m. and was quickly told to go back to sleep until Logan woke up. At 6:00 both Clayton and Autumn woke us up. So at 6:30 we woke up Logan and went to see what Santa brought.

I love Halloween on this base! The weather was perfect. It was warm and very windy which made the beautiful leaves fly everywhere,and there was a full moon. Perfect! The weather was perfect and the foliage was beautiful. I didn't walk the whole course and after the race the boys told me that they "actually ran through the trees and over an awesome looking bridge!"

16 Months

Our baby is 16 months today! I can't believe how fast he is growing. He is beginning to have such a funny personality. He loves playing outside, figuring out how to do new things, eating, dancing, chasing, playing ball, drinking ice cold drinks, and also getting sprayed in the face with cold water. Although he rambles and doesn't make much sense most of the time, there are a few sounds that we have been able to figure out their meaning: Dada, Mama, Uh oh, Du (Dog or any other furry animal), Stu (stuck), Kk (yuck), Teetee (kitty), Cooookeeee (Cookie or anything that looks good to eat), It (sit), Goo (shoe), Ny ny (bye bye), Di di (Did it), a dair (right there), oooo wow! (usually said when looking at an airplane in the sky). He is just too cute!

This was a tough one. Clayton was not having a good day to begin with, it was 81 degrees with 100% humidity, and this was a longer course. But Clayton stuck in there and finished in 26th place with a time of 18:27 for 1.8 miles. Good job buddy!

Clayton's First Cross Country Meet

Clayton is on the Hanscom Falcons Cross Country team (5th-8th grade). He loves it! Today was their first meet in Belmont, MA. They lost but did a great job. Clayton came in 30th place with a time of 13:02 for 1.6 miles. In the last picture he is lined up in order-of-finish.

After talking about the race, he realized that he was "saving too much energy for the last part of the race and could have gone faster in the beginning and middle." Their next meet is next Thursday at home against Bedford. Now that Clayton has a good feel for how it all works, Clayton says, "Bedford better LOOKOUT!"

Clayton's Science Camp

Clayton finished his week long "Rockets, Sprockets, and Circuits" day camp. If you know Clayton then you already know that he had a blast! (pun intended, hehe) They made two rockets and a solar powered car. On their free time the boys decided to have a chess tournament and Clayton came in 3rd. The last day of the camp they invited parents to come watch them launch their rockets.

I didn't get a picture of Clayton watching the rocket shoot up into the air but I wish I would have. I have never seen Clayton more excited. He was shaking. After he calmed down he came up to me and said, "Mom, thanks for letting me do this. I thought we were just going to throw the rockets."

Fun with Uncle Nathan

We love when Uncle Nathan comes to visit! After our road trip to D.C. Nathan stayed for a few more days. We went to North Bridge at Minuteman park, played video games, and of course Autumn had to make him one of her cakes (Clayton helped decorate.)Thanks again for coming Nate, we love having you here!

Autumn's First Cake

Autumn made me a "birthday" cake. She felt bad that I didn't get a birthday cake so she made one for me while Chris and Clayton were at the Cub Scout camp in June. She made me leave the room while she decorated it by herself. I had to use our other camera and wasn't able to put the picture onto the computer until now. The cake says, "I love you mom." She is such a sweetheart!

Washington D.C. Trip with Uncle Nathan

Chris took a one week class in Rockville, MD on the Nuremberg trials, so we decided to tag along and make it a family trip. Nathan was able to visit from Hawaii and come with us.

Day 1 - Friday: 10 hour drive (with the many stops) to Washington D.C.

Day 2 - Saturday: Chris' class in Rockville and a visit to Krispy Kreme!
Day 3 -Sunday: Walk around Washington D.C. on a very hot/humid day.
Day 4 - Monday: Chris, Nathan, Clayton, and Autumn went to some of the museums in the Smithsonian while Logan took a nap. After a quick trip to Arlington National Cemetery, we drove to Langley AFB in Virgina and had dinner at our favorite restaurant--Cheddar's.
Day 5 - Tuesday: Rest/homework day. Chris had a lot of homework to do for his class and the kids had a good time resting, watching movies, and watching jets take off and land in our large 2 bedroom place at Langley.

Day 6 - Wednesday: Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. Busch Gardens offers the military a free day once a year so we had to take advantage of that. =) We didn't get many pictures but we did get caught in the rain and Logan didn't mind a bit!
Day 7 - Thursday: Drive to Gettysburg, PA and visit to the battlegrounds.

Day 8 - Friday: Hershey's Chocolate Word for a tour of how milk chocolate is made and Hershey park for some more roller coasters.

Day 9 - Saturday: Chris' class, more Gettysburg, drive home.

After a month of rain the kids were excited to have sun on the 4th! The day started out in the sprinklers.Autumn is becoming quite the baker. She wanted to make her own cake all by her self. The only thing she didn't do was crack the eggs and put it in/out of the oven.We ended the day at Wakefield, MA for some freshly squeezed lemonade and fireworks. Logan liked the lemonade the best. =)

Today was the last day of school for the kids and Hanscom Air Force Base started off the summer with a bang! There were rides, good food, games, face paint, and the night ended with a live band and fireworks. What a great way to start the summer!

Cub Scout's End of the Year Picnic

Today was the Cub Scout's end of the year picnic. It was rainy and cold but very fun. It was a great way to spend time with the family and celebrate the Cub Scouts and their fathers on father's day.

It started with water balloons launched into the baseball field for the kids to "catch."

Then the Cub Scouts got their awards while eating great food.

After that they had a water balloon toss, which Clayton and his friend Michael won both times!

We ended the day with a dunk tank! Clayton was dunked on the first throw, so we didn't get any pictures of him. Here is Autumn getting dunked. She liked it so much she did it twice!

Boston Children's Museum

The kids had last week off of school so we went to the Boston Children's Museum. It was a lot of fun. They even had a room for Logan to play!

They could pull a bowling ball up and drop it which would launch a tennis ball very high into the air.

Clayton is building up energy to turn the lights on in front of him, Logan is "watching" behind him.

They had to pull themselves up with the rope.

Bubble room! They tried to make a large bubble around them. It was very hard, but Clayton did it! (Sorry about the "cat eyes" the lighting was really bad in that room.)

Autumn's hair cut

Autumn got her hair cut. She has been asking to for a long time, but I love her hair so I kept putting it off. You know that answer that every mom gives...." Yeah hun, we'll do it soon just not today." Well, she wanted it SHORT! She was looking through the books there at the salon and asked for one of those a-line cuts that is super short in the back and goes to the chin in the front. We compromised and took 4 inches off with layers. She's happy with it but says "After Auntie Laura's wedding, I am going to get that shorter cut."

Autumn had a great birthday. Thursday (the 29th) started with a new dress for her to wear to school and her favorite breakfast, pancakes, sausage, and strawberries. Chris took the day off so I was able to go to her school to have lunch with her and Clayton. After school we went to Rainforest Cafe for dinner.

Then we went home for presents and more cake!

Sledding

Chris took the kids out in the backyard to do some sledding. He did such a great job setting up a path for them to go down and even made stairs in the snow for them to climb up! They had so much fun.

After many trips down the hill and some work from Daddy, the path got longer!

Logan came out for a little bit. He loves being outside. It really relaxes him. He wasn't very happy about going in, but his cheeks and nose were getting too cold. He quickly calmed down though as soon as he saw his bottle and then went down for a long nap while the kids played some more. :)

We had a great Christmas. Logan woke us up at 7:00 and the older kids were still asleep! When I went to wake up Clayton he said, "I woke up at 4:22 and could not go back to sleep." Knowing that he did not have a clock in his room (that is one of the presents he got for Christmas) I asked how he would know that it was 4:22. His face quickly turned into a deer in headlights look and he said, "Well, I went down into the kitchen to see what time it was." I then asked if he peeked at what Santa had left for him. He replied, "Well, presents are wrapped anyway." (Santa doesn't wrap) I asked him the question again and he replied, "Well, the presents that aren't from Santa are wrapped." I asked one more time and he hung his head and said, "Yes, I looked." So I said, "Well, are you happy with what you saw" and he replied, "Oh yeah!"

Logan liked the wrapping paper and the ribbons the best!

Here's a quick clip of Logan scooting. He is getting really good at it. It was hard to get a good clip of him because he would get too excited about the presents and start kicking, which makes it hard to crawl, which gets very frustrating!

Over all this was a very nice day full of present opening, eating, and board games.

Visit with Santa

Today we had a private visit with Santa and Mrs. Clause.

They had so much fun. First they told Santa what they wanted for Christmas
(Autumn wants an IPod and Clayton wants his own XBox controller that is blue).

Then they read stories.

Santa even helped them make an ornament with their picture and ate cookies and chocolate milk. It was really well done.

Finally some snow!

Clayton's concert

Clayton is in the 4th/5th grade chorus and had his winter concert last night. We only got there 15 minutes early so we had to sit in the back. (Everyone on this base is always so early!) Anyway, so I could't get a good picture and I had to zoom in quite a bit for the video.

I did get a picture of Clayton in his shirt and tie before we left. If you have not noticed, Clayton has been having a hard time getting that smile that he wants in pictures. (Look at post below)

He was trying to make a good smile for this picture and did this....

Then I told him just to laugh, and being the character that he is, did this.....

I was laughing, but he was very serious and wanted to try one more time...

We'll keep working on it. He makes me laugh every day!

6 months old

Logan turned 6 months old yesterday. I can't believe how big he is getting. He is starting to become mobile by rolling and scooting around.

He is just starting to get up on his knees and rock back and forth. I rarely have a camera next to me while he does it (because it only lasts a few seconds) but while I was talking on the phone he was getting on his knees a lot. This is the best picture I could get.... He's going to be crawling in no time!

Trimming the Tree

Last night we trimmed the tree while listening to Christmas music, had eggnog and cookies, and watched The Polar Express. The kids has so much fun. (Well, the older kids anyway. Logan can't stay awake later than 7:00.)

Autumn wanted me to take a picture of her "dancing to Christmas music next to the tree".
She also did her own hair! She is very proud of herself.
