Lincoln Minute Men

This weekend was the 233rd anniversary of the Battle of Concord and Lexington in 1775. We were able to go to one of the re-enactments last night. We went to the White Church in Lincoln, MA where we saw the Lincoln Company of Minute Men re-enact what happened in Lincoln just after midnight on April 19, 1775. It started with Captain William Smith arriving by horse yelling, "It is time to raise the alarm, the Regulars are marching on Concord." Then he rang the bell of the White Church. The Lincoln Minute Men ran from nearby houses and stood in formation in front of the church to get their muskets inspected and receive their orders to march to Concord. We were able to march behind them (which Clayton especially enjoyed) for about a quarter mile. It was a fun night and a great experience for the kids.

Here are the kids on the steps of the Lincoln Town Library, across the street from the White Church, waiting for the event to begin.
